Ancient Slang

Ancient Slang displays works on paper, a video projection, and two fabric-based sculptures. Some of the drawings are suspended so they gently react to the viewers presence.

This collaborative exhibition by Nicole Barrick and Hill is based on the discovered interests they shared during Hill's livestream show, “Doodle with Me.” They connected over topics like Catholicism, queer nuns, skeptical magic, mall goths, rituals, and experiences with vampires. In the summer of 2023, Nicole traveled from Philadelphia to Tucson to stay with Ryan and share a studio. This exhibition showcases both their collaborative efforts and thematically similar individual works.
